National Constitution Day in India 

Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November in India, because the Constitution of India was approved by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November in the year 1949, which came into effect on 26 January 1950.  Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is called the father of the Constitution of India.  After the independence of India, the Congress government invited Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to serve as the first law minister of India.  He was made the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution on 29 August.  He was the main architect of the Indian Constitution and is known for a strong and united India. 

Contribution of Babasaheb Ambedkar to Constitution 

The first description of the Indian Constitution was given by Granville Austin to achieve social revolution.  Babasaheb Ambedkar’s lasting contribution towards the Indian Constitution is a great help to all the citizens of India.  The Indian Constitution was adopted to constitute the country as an independent communist, secular, autonomous and republic to secure Indian citizens, justice, equality, liberty and union. When the Constitution of India was adopted, the citizens of India entered a new constitutional, scientific, self-government and modern India with peace, decency and progress.  The Constitution of India is very unique in the whole world and it took almost 2 years, 11 months and 17 days to pass by the Constituent Assembly.

National Constitution Day in India is an officially celebrated event every year on 26 November to remember and honor the father of the Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.  People of India celebrate its history, freedom, independence and peace after starting its constitution.  Constitution Day is celebrated on 26 November every year to explain the importance of the Constitution of India.  In which it is explained to the people that how our constitution is important for the progress of our country and what difficult situations Dr. Ambedkar had to face in making the constitution of our country.

National Constitution Day is the day when we get an opportunity to know more about our Constitution.  Various programs are organized in government and private institutions on this day.  The most important work that is done on the day of Constitution Day is to inform the people about the “Preamble to the Constitution of India”, which is explained in very easy language by the groups in schools, colleges and offices across the country. 

Along with this, many types of Q&A competitions, speech and essay competitions are organized in schools, which focus on the Constitution of India and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.  Along with this, many lectures and seminars are also organized on this day, in which important topics of our constitution are explained.  Similarly, debate competitions are also organized for the students in many schools, in which many topics are discussed by the students. 

Tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar on  this Day

A special session of the Constituent Assembly is called every year on 26 November, in which Dr. B.  R.  We pay tribute to Ambedkar for his important contribution in making the constitution of the country.  Similarly, on this day special decorations are done on the memorial of Dr. Ambedkar.  Along with this, mini marathons are organized on this day by the Ministry of Sports to pay tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of our country and everyone’s beloved. 

Tips to celebrate National Constitution Day more effectively 

We should not think of National Constitution Day as a day which should be celebrated only by the government and political parties.  As a responsible citizen of our country, it is our duty to celebrate this day with full zeal and enthusiasm and this will be the true tribute we can pay to the Constitution makers of our country.  It is not only our duty but it is also our responsibility that we celebrate this day as a national festival, some of these things have been mentioned below. 

Conducting awareness campaigns 

To promote this day, we can run awareness campaigns about Constitution Day in our areas and societies.  We also need to make people aware of their rights and duties.  Along with this, pamphlets and posters should be distributed among the people to give maximum information about their constitution preamble so that people can understand the meaning of the constitution and become aware of its observance. 

Acting by staging and plays 

Acting staging and drama is a good way to express your thoughts among the people.  Similarly, through small plays, we can explain its importance to the people by giving information about India’s freedom struggle and constitution making.  Through this, he will not only be able to understand the struggles made by our great leaders for the freedom of the country, so that he will be able to respect this democracy even better. 

By organizing seminars and lectures in schools 

Children are considered to be the cornerstone of the country, so it is quite important that he is familiar with the history and culture of his country.  By organizing seminars and lectures in schools and colleges on this subject, we will be able to explain to the children how the great personalities of our country built this new democratic India.  It will inculcate a sense of patriotism in them, besides making them aware of the great history of our country.

Long Speech on National Constitution Day

‘Good morning everyone!’, I am here to speak a few words about the National Constitutional day of our country. 

Our Constitution day is celebrated every year on 26th November to honour the adaptation of the Constitution of India. It is also called National Law day or Samvidhan Diwas. As we all know India got its independence on 15th August 1947 and on 26th January 1950 the Constitution of India came into effect. It is celebrated as Republic Day.

You might be thinking about the history of how the constitution of India came into effect?  The constitutional assembly was formed which consisted of elected representatives from various fields. A few of the important members were Dr. B.R Ambedkar as he was the chairman of the drafting committee, Jawaharlal Nehru as he was the first prime minister of India, B.N Rau as the constitutional advisor, and Sardar Vallabhai Patel, home minister of India

There was a two month period between the adaptation and the enforcement of the Constitution. These two months were used for complete reading and translation of the constitution from Hindi to English. 

The constitutional assembly met for 166 days before the constitution was adopted. During the adaptation two hands, written copies each in Hindi and English were signed by the constitutional assembly members on January 24, 1950. By January 26, 1950, the constitution of India came into effect and from that day it became the law of the land.
